How the project unfolds

 Design Phase  (Managed by JGKB)

                      Choosing a Contractor

We highly advise you to choose
                   a contractor we recommend

Hiring an experienced and professional contractor is critical to the success of your project. The contractors we recommend to our clients are highly experienced and we know their jobs are executed correctly and efficiently with the least amount of stress for you.

The decision of who to hire to install your new kitchen will be up to you, but we know that teamwork will be critical to getting your job done right. When we must work with a contractor we don't know, the project may not go as well as you expect.

o        Initial consultation – Client meets with designer and design associate to get an idea of the scope of the project, to prepare an initial layout, and to estimate the cost of the job.  At the end of the meeting, the client receives a retainer agreement.

o        Retainer agreement – Client signs the retainer agreement and pays the required fee. The project is now officially underway.

o        Measurements are taken

·         Remodel – The designer and/or design associate will meet you at your home to take detailed measurements of the space.

·         New construction – The designer and/or design associate will contact your architect or contractor for dimensioned plans.  Once the framing is up, the jobsite will be measured

o        Drafting – Based on the measurements, our CAD specialists draft the space and the design process gets underway.

o        Design meetings – Design meetings will take place with a designer and/or design associate in our showroom.  This process may take 4-8 weeks depending on schedule availability and how quickly design decisions are reached. After each meeting, drawings are revised to reflect the decisions about your project.

o        Cabinet contract - Once the design is agreed upon, the client signs a contract for cabinetry and pays the 50% cabinet deposit. The client receives a copy of the plans and the design associate processes the cabinet order.  If you need a copy of the plans prior to placing your cabinet order, an additional deposit will be required.

o        Choosing appliances and other materials –  Two to six weeks after your cabinet order has been processed, we will help you choose the appliances and other materials, including such items as countertops, tiles, lighting, hardware, plumbing supplies and flooring.  We do not charge an additional fee or an hourly rate for this service, but if we spend time helping you to make your selections, we expect you to purchase them through us. We cannot be held responsible for any products that you purchase on your own, and it is essential that you inform us of any purchases you make that could affect the design of your kitchen.

o       Other materials contract – Once we have helped you select the other materials to complete your project, you will sign a contract for these materials and pay a 50% deposit.  At this time, the itemized materials list is released.  Final payment for everything you purchase from us will be due when we advise you that the cabinets are ready for delivery.

Ordering Appliances and other materials

Why order appliances and other materials through JGKB? Besides the fact that our prices are very competitive, a major advantage is our exacting attention to detail. When clients purchase through JGKB, we create a job site binder that includes product information ,installation instructions, and technical specifications. This will greatly assist the contractor when the installation gets underway and assures correct installation. We also will coordinate in-home delivery, uncrate and inspect everything you purchase from us. In the rare case that an item is delivered incorrectly or has been damaged, we handle the problem promptly to minimize any delays.

Installation Phase
      (Managed by your contractor)

o        Construction begins Until now your project has been handled by JGKB.  When demolition begins, however, your contractor will take over as project leader.  We will continue to be available, of course, to answer any questions he or she may have and to coordinate delivery of your cabinets and any other items you purchase through us.

o        Site visits – Please be assured that the designer and/or design associates will visit the job site as needed or requested to clarify any questions or concerns that may arise during the installation phase.

o        When your new kitchen is done!  Please feel free to contact us if you need clarification or help with any of the products you have purchased from us.  Just give us a call!
